In the south of Halle there is the Rabenisland. It is located between different creeks of the Saale river. The island is invaded each weekend by many people coming from the different living areas. Just a restaurant or small cafe is missing, but hopefully this will change in the future.
The creeks are used by kayak and canoe sport clubs for training. On the other side of the Rabenisland are 2 artificial water channels. They are part of a chancel to connect Halle and Leipzig. However, the water channel between both cities was never finished. On those water channels already olympic games winners were training.
