This cemetery is called Stadtgottesacker and was built between 1590 and 1594 following the Italian archetype. The people of this time had found out that it is better to not bury the dead near the living areas. Therefore they built the cemetery outside the city. To protect the cemetery, there is a wall around it. You can find several crypts in the wall. In the middle of the cemetery is a big burial ground. Many famous people of Halle are buried on this cemetery.
