Halle's zoo was opened already in 1901. It is one of the oldest zoos in Germany. The zoo is special because of it's location. The zoo is located on the Reilsberg mountain and it is the biggest mountain zoo in Germany. Because of this a zoo visit is somehow like hiking in the mountains. There is a view point on top of the mountain in the zoo. You can have a wonderful view over the city.
Besides hiking you can also watch and observe many different animals. It is also possible to touch some of them, which is a great experience especially for children. In recent years, new building for the monkeys, crocodiles, tigers and elephants were erected.
