Here you can see the opera house in Halle. Halle is called to be the culture city of middle Germany, because there are so many theatres and other cultural institutions.
In the inner city you will find the so called culture island consisting of the "neues theater (nt)" and the puppet theatre. They already have more then 3 different stages. Till 2005 the "neues theater" was led by Peter Sodann, a well known German actor.
Just 2 minutes away is the stage for the cabaret group Kiebitzensteiner. Other theatres are the Thalia theatre and the Freien Komödianten theatre group, who play in the so called Theatrale near Hansering. Other stages used by travelling artists are Händelhalle, Steintor-Variete, Studentclub Turm, Capitol, Objekt 5 and Konzerthalle.
Each year at the end of October there is the big "Puck" puppet theatre festival. Tickets are sold out already months before.
Another big event is the Händel classical music festival in honour of Georg-Friedrich Händel. Those classical concerts are performed at various places in the city like the Galgenbergschlucht and the central market square.
